After a year of heavy use, here is our review of the Mantis X10 Elite.
As the Founder of Tactical Hyve, I’m a serious shooter who researches and tests a lot of products, so you don’t have to. And today, I’ve taken an in-depth look at the Mantis X10 Elite Shooting Performance System to help you decide if it’s right for you.
World and National Champion shooter, JJ Racaza, recommended I try the Mantis, so I did. I found the Mantis X10 Elite to be a remarkable training device, both during live-fire and dry fire practice. There is no other product in the market that does what it does at the same price range.
So if you’ve been on the edge about picking one up and just want to know what I think, I highly recommend it and encourage every serious shooter to buy it.

I have a "lifetime" license to LASRAPP Classic. After discovering that LASR has short lifespan, I started looking for a replacement. Because I have an IR SIRT I purchased the iDryFire PRO bundle.
TLDR: An almost drop in replacement for someone using IR.
PROS: MUCH better camera and faster interface. Because of this, it is really fast to setup and get going. Detection is spot on as well.
CONS: Lacking a few features I had grown accustomed to

Coming from LASRAPP Classic, I was initially confused by the lack of miss zones.
In LASRAPP Classic, because of how much computing power was required to monitor the camera frame, they only had it monitor the targets for hits. Also, so you could monitor misses, by drawing the miss areas. Since both hit and miss areas were close to one another, you wouldn't have to monitor the whole camera frame. I know with my computer from years ago, limiting it to just a couple of small targets/miss areas was required to keep it from lagging.
In iDryFire, the whole frame is monitored - at no loss of speed (helped also by a new computer). In a sense - everywhere is a miss zone unless a target is hit.
In iDryFire, all "zones" (aka targets) are steel plates. A miss is just a firing sound. A hit sounds like hitting steel.
Features I hope will be added to iDryFire one day:
1) Call targets. [for those not familiar with LASRAPP] I used to put a dot torture target on a wall and draw and name the 10 targets (I kept the names the same, "one" through "ten"). I also added a "right" and "left" target. In call targets, LASRAPP would play the corresponding sound of the target name (EX: it would say "one", "two", etc. as there were a number of pre-recorded "names" that you could attach to a target). I would set it to randomly call the next target after the timeout OR successful hit.
2) More target templates: right now, there are only 3, circle, rectangle, and torso.
3) Keep track of hits and misses. Right now, it doesn't record a hit or miss - just shows the placement. This can be a bit annoying because, especially if you complete more than one round, you have to manually tally the hits / misses by reviewing the history.
